NAMIBIANISATION

ADVANCEMENT OF PREVIOUSLY DISADVANTAGED
Social transformation is a prominent pillar in the development efforts of the Namibian government. Castrobros contributes its share through advancement of previously disadvantaged persons thus trying to address the socioeconomic inequalities of the past.
We are fully AA compliant and supports BEE compliant suppliers and service providers. We are guided by the various frameworks and documents formulated by government to address social transformation in Namibia.
We utilise non-automated fishing and processing methods to ensure maximum employment for Namibians. Our products are value added in Namibia. This ensures that we create maximum product value in Namibia and maximum employment of Namibians.
EMPLOYMENT CREATION
We are fully committed to broaden the participation of Namibians in the Namibian fishing industry and empower previously disadvantaged persons through employment.
Thus far our company has created the following direct jobs through our operations:
Offshore: 98 Namibians employed
Onshore: 11 Namibians employed
Many indirect jobs are created by our fishing and marketing operations. We make use of various Namibian service providers in the industry such as stevedores, fish processing factory workers, packing material manufacturers, ship repairers and many more. The estimated indirect employment created by our operations are 800 Namibian jobs.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

Training and development of our employees remain an important objective of Castrobros.
All our sea-going staff attend safety courses as required by the Namibian Directorate of Maritime Affairs, as well as Basic Hygiene Training as required by the Namibian Standards Institute (NSI). All of our vessel officers attend HACCP team training as required by our food safety system Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points System (HACCP).
Several Namibian employees have received training bursaries to attend maritime training courses. The most recent was Mr. Johannes T Simon who attended an Engineering Officer Class 6 course. Subsequent to the completion of his course, Mr Johannes T Simon was promoted to the rank of Second Engineer on one of our vessels.
