HISTORY

Castrobros was founded by long-time fisherman, Joao de Castro in 1985. Our company was established in Lüderitz and first operated in the lobster industry. Joao descended from a long line of fisherman and started his career as a fisherman in the 1950’s at the tender age of 12.
In 1998 Castrobros was relocated to Walvis Bay and Joao’s two sons, Tony and Ricky, joined the business. At this time the company changed direction and we started focusing on the tuna and hake fishery. From its date of inception till 2009, our fishing vessels were skippered by Joao, Tony and Ricky.
In 2000, our founder, Joao de Castro sadly passed away in a motor vehicle accident. Tony and Ricky continued with the business.
Over the years we have owned and managed nine fishing vessels. In 2013 we extended our interest to property investment and currently own and manage several properties.
Today Castrobros is managed and operated by Tony and Ricky, with 112 permanent Namibian employees.
